Mermaid

this is what mermaids look like. here's some information on them.

this is a female mermaid. you can tell between the male and female by the size of their tusks (male tusks are larger, as usual) and sex of the human-looking head attached to them (which is actually part of them, and they are in full control of it. it does not possess another brain).

mermaids do not have teeth; instead, they have beaks. as they do not have thumbs with which to grab their prey, they will latch onto its flesh, securing a large portion between their downward-pointing beaks and their upward-pointing tusks. they have long, flexible, powerful tongues that are studded on the end with hard barbs that they lash through flesh to break it up, which is their equivalent to chewing.

the six panels on their chest are bio-luminescent, and are used to communicate different messages underwater by way of blinking (increasing and decreasing intensity) them in a similar way to morse code. mermaids can breathe above water as well, being amphibious, so they often use their "human" heads to speak to each other above water.

the fins on their tails hold many large blood vessels, and are highly sensitive.
